Some past submissions to A Day with HIV

One of the sunnier, and always inspiring, HIV anti-stigma campaigns in our communmity will hit social media this Wednesday, September 22, when A Day with HIV takes place, and you’re invited.

People living with HIV (and our wonderful allies) are invited to snap a photo of themselves sometime during their day on Wednesday. Then, post the photo on social media and tag it #adaywithhiv. If you want to be included in the online gallery of photos — and a chance to be featured on the cover of Positively Aware magazine (the sponsor of the event), then upload a high-res (original) version of your photo to ADayWithHIV.com. It’s that simple.

A fun, crazy quilt of photos is created each year of people going about their lives and having some adventures in the process. Hugs and smiles are the norm, but the gallery has also featured people exercising, hiking, grinning in famous places, and even skydiving.

Mark S. King: “Today my dear friend Edwin J. Bernard, an HIV criminalization reform advocate, was visiting me from England. I am grateful that HIV activism has brought me such wonderful friends.” From A Day with HIV 2017

It might seem typical to you and me that people living with HIV are leading normal, active lives, but trust me when I tell you that our healthy existence is still revolutionary to a lot of folks out there — and our health and vitality is a true inspiration to those struggling with their diagnosis or with HIV stigma.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer. All you need is a camera phone and a sense of joy.

Mark your calendar to take your photo this Wednesday, and then keep your eye on ADayWithHIV.com that day as the gallery of submissions blossoms.

Have fun!
