Crystal meth addiction remains at epidemic levels. If you would like to learn more about the grip of the drug, and how it fuses with the sex lives of gay men, there are four new podcasts below that should enlighten you.
The first three episodes come from a Canadian show, “pozcast,” hosted by James Watson. In the first of the three-part series, Watson interviews author Dr. David Fawcett (Lust, Men, and Meth) and myself about crystal meth among gay men, its binding with sex, and the recovery process.
In the second of the three-part series of pozcast, Watson interviews a recovering crystal meth addict who has five years clean from the drug. His mode of recovery, the 12 step program of Crystal Meth Anonymous, is thoroughly discussed.
In the third part of the pozcast series, host James Watson interviews Nick Boyce and Colin Johnson about harm reduction as an approach to safer drug use. Nick is the Director of the Ontario Harm Reduction Network and has been working in the movement for almost 20 years. Colin is a gay rights activist and harm reduction peer educator. He is also an injection drug user whose drug of choice is crystal meth.
And finally, Dr. David Fawcett has begun a podcast of his own, “Healing Conversations for Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Men,” as part of his work with gay men dealing with drug and sex addiction. In this episode, I join my friend as his guest and get pretty honest (and sometimes, graphic) about my meth addiction and recovery process.
I hope these podcasts are helpful to you or to someone you know. Please remember that help is available, and recovery is possible.
Thanks for listening, and please be well.
